The Student Support Program at Hollywood Schoolhouse exists to ensure that every child can fully access and engage with our curriculum, reflecting our commitment to knowing, valuing, and encouraging each student.
Early Childhood Education (ECE)
In Preschool and TK, the Student Support Program emphasizes building social, emotional, and early academic skills within a play-based, developmentally appropriate framework. Our specialists partner closely with classroom teachers to observe progress, identify emerging needs, and provide gentle guidance that fosters curiosity, resilience, and self-regulation. Early intervention at this stage may include modeling social skills, facilitating positive peer interactions, introducing early literacy and numeracy concepts, and working with families to ensure a consistent approach between home and school.
Kindergarten through 2nd Grade
Support is primarily provided through the pull-out model. In this approach, students meet with a Student Support specialist outside the regular classroom in a quiet, focused setting. Pull-out sessions allow for intensive, targeted instruction that addresses specific learning needs or extends learning for high-ability students. Activities may include building foundational skills in literacy and math, reinforcing new concepts through multi-sensory strategies, and providing individualized feedback in a low-distraction environment. These sessions enable concentrated practice, immediate correction, and tailored pacing, ensuring growth and confidence before rejoining the larger class.
3rd through 6th Grade
Support is primarily provided through the push-in model. Here, our Student Support specialists work directly inside the classroom alongside the teacher, delivering help in the moment without removing students from their peers. Push-in support can include pre-teaching key concepts, breaking down complex tasks, providing real-time clarification, facilitating small-group or one-on-one guidance, modeling learning and organization strategies, encouraging classroom participation, and collaborating with teachers to adapt materials without reducing rigor. This approach keeps students embedded in their learning community, supports the immediate application of skills, and fosters independence while maintaining a sense of belonging.
Social-Emotional Support
In addition to academic help, the Student Support Program offers 1:1 social-emotional support for children who may be navigating a particularly challenging time, adjusting to changes, or needing extra guidance in developing self-regulation and interpersonal skills. This individualized care can involve reflective conversations, coping strategies, role-playing scenarios, and ongoing check-ins—helping students feel seen, supported, and ready to re-engage with learning.
Through these models, we help students emerge academically strong, artistically proud, physically active, and socially grounded, living the mission of Hollywood Schoolhouse in every step of their learning journey.
