Early Childhood Teacher Assistant

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for an Early Childhood Teacher Assistant who will create a loving and safe environment for a group of preschool children between the ages of 2-6 years old. The ideal candidate will have a passion for children and supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times. Teacher Assistants work with a Lead Teacher to create a flexible and dynamic classroom environment and program favorable to learning and personal growth children; establish effective rapport with students, parents, and colleagues; nurture passions and talents of students; develop each child’s skills; and collaborate and partner with colleagues and administration.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Work with teaching team in all activities, including but not limited to: housekeeping, diapering, toilet training, meal service and record-keeping
  • Share responsibility in the preparation of Daily Plans and the preparation of teaching materials
  • Conduct daily small-group activities for an assigned group of children, sharing responsibility for large-group activities and using appropriate adult/child interactions strategies with all children
  • Assume responsibility for a classroom at any given time
  • Collects required anecdotes and information for required ongoing assessments
  • Observe and/or participate in parent-teacher conferences
  • Provide coverage for breaks for other staff members
  • Assists with supervision of children throughout the day (classrooms, bathrooms, play yard, enrichment classes)
  • Promote individualized attention for children by freeing teachers from routine duties
  • Assist children with problem-solving skills (social and academic)
  • Encourage children to become independent
  • Model the Hollywood Schoolhouse mission and philosophy
  • Attend school community events
  • Keep an open line of communication with lead teachers regarding children and parents. Use discretion in communications with parents in the teacher’s absence
  • Interact in a way expressive of genuine warmth and concern for children as well as an understanding of their developmental needs
  • Have respect for children’s ideas, feelings, abilities, and differences
  • Maintain insights into and tolerance for the range of age appropriate behavior
  • Accept changes in schedules, environment, etc…
  • Acquire knowledge of the current curriculum and implement the curriculum practices in the classroom

REQUIREMENTS

  • Full-time position
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associate Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education highly preferred.
  • EC Units or teaching certificates strongly recommended.
  • Must have 2+ years working with children between 2-6 year olds.
  • Must provide proof of a current negative TB test and completed Health Screening Report within 7 days of hire. COVID vaccination and 1 booster is required.
  • Selected candidates will be required to pass a pre-offer criminal history background check prior to employment.

SALARY RANGE: $18 to $22.50 p/h

Spanish Teacher

JOB SUMMARY

With Respect to Children and Classroom

  • Serves the best interest of the student first, in a manner that combines nurture and expectations, and that appreciates the unique life experiences of each child.
  • Is familiar with the academic, social/emotional, and health history of each child. Confers with appropriate school personnel when issues of student concern arise.
  • Helps students develop socially and emotionally, as responsible, respectful persons.
  • Responds to student work in a timely manner, including returning papers, quizzes, and tests; meets grading and reporting deadlines.
  • Is responsible for the learning process and the instruction of curriculum in accordance with the school’s mission and philosophy.
  • Develops a classroom management plan that is aligned to the school mission.
  • Maintains a clean and organized classroom.
  • Actively supervises children in and outside of the classroom as required. This includes not using a cell phone during supervision unless in an emergency.
  • Attends class trips, admissions events, and other school events as required. (These may include some evenings and/or weekend events.)

With Respect to Parents

  • Treats parents as partners in their child’s educational journey.
  • Communicates regularly with parents, keeping them informed of their child’s progress and/or challenges.
  • Communicates with parents via email, daily/weekly emails and/or class newsletter as expected per division; returns emails within 24 hours.
  • Maintains professional relationship with parents at all times.

With Respect to the School, Colleagues, and Administration

  • Supports the fundamental direction and mission of the school.
  • Abides by Staff Handbook.
  • Fulfills additional duties as assigned by the administration.
  • Prepares for and attends all scheduled divisional meetings and all school faculty meetings. Shows continued growth and enhancement of skills and knowledge through professional development.
  • Be present in the life of the school. This includes attending all assigned faculty meetings and professional development days, and, as possible and practical, community events, games, and showcases.
  • Work respectfully and collaboratively with colleagues. Give time and effort beyond the norm as may be occasionally required; be willing to help others whose immediate workloads may be too heavy for them to handle.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education and a valid California teaching certificate in the area of Spanish (preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Spanish teacher (preferred)
  • Possession of a valid internship, preliminary, or clear teaching credential
  • Demonstrated success working with students
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Fingerprint clearance
  • T.B. Test and COVID Vaccinations

SALARY RANGE: $60K-$107K depending on the highest degree earned (i.e., Bachelor’s, Master’s, Ed.D./Ph.D.) and years of teaching experience
