A San Fernando Valley native, Ilene Reinfeld is celebrating her 17h year as Head of School at Los Encinos School. The LES community has grown significantly since Reinfeld took over the reins, going from a student population of 100 to over 170 today. Initially wanting to explore a career in Child Psychology, Ilene enrolled in Pitzer College in Claremont and received a degree in Child Development and Psychology. Later, she changed her focus towards teaching and earned her credential from UCLA. Ilene’s first job was at Cleveland Elementary in Pasadena, teaching 2nd and 3rd graders. Just prior to taking her current position at LES, Ilene was the General Studies Principal at Adat Ari El Day School in Valley Village. In 2012, she was awarded a fully-funded fellowship to the distinguished Klingenstein Center at Columbia University, which is only granted to 20 heads of school annually. She earned her Masters of Science in School Management and Administration from Pepperdine. Ilene has two sons in college (Northwestern and Vanderbilt) and resides in Sherman Oaks with her husband, Elliot, and their basset hound, Chandler.
