Wendy Giss

My name is Wendy Giss and I am thrilled to be joining the HSH community! I am a second generation Native Angeleno. My parents both attended Fairfax High School. I grew up at the beach and have lived in Colorado and Hawaii. California will always be home. I completed my undergraduate studies and credential program at CSUN and received my M.Ed at Pepperdine University with an emphasis in leadership skills. I am the youngest of three children. I have a brother who lives in Vietnam with his wife and my gorgeous nephew, Gavin, and a brother in London. I am a passionate educator invested in my students and their families. In the ten plus years I have been teaching, I create a classroom community where students feel safe to take risks, curiosity is encouraged, respect is modeled, self-discovery is supported, sharing of ideas is invited, and nurturing and consistency is provided. My role as an educator is to guide students to meet their fullest potential intellectually, socially, and emotionally. In my free time, I am in nature- hiking, swimming, biking, walking, practicing yoga, and exploring California. I love the ocean, I live to travel, learn about new cultures, customs and ways of life around the world, and I love to laugh.
