Busy Bears, Teacher Assistant

Rebekah Lasarow

Rebekah has been a part of the HSH community since the summer of 2012, specifically working in the ECE Division She has always been interested in the relationship between how children learn and grow and their physical learning environment. She has received several certifications from Los Angeles Valley College in Childhood Development: Associate Teacher, Preschool Literacy, Preschool, and Childhood Development: Teacher. She has taken a special interest in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, seeing the child as a researcher and the teacher as a safety net, or guide. She believes the best thing that we can give children is the opportunity to explore, observe, question, and discuss their surroundings and community.

Rebekah comes from quite a large multi-cultural family. She is an LA native, but both of her parents moved to the US in the mid 80’s. Her mom is from the UK, and her dad is from South Africa. She also has family in Australia, Canada, Mexico, Israel, New York, as well as here in California. She feels fortunate to have a family network that spreads across the globe, which has given her the opportunity to travel all over the world, introducing her to many different cultures and lifestyles, and she loves being able to share her experiences with the children in her class. She hopes to be able to continue exploring places both familiar and completely new.

Rebekah loves cooking, botany, architectural and product design, dancing, museums, and the beach.
