Karla Martinez

Karla is an El Salvador native, but a Californian at heart who was raised in Boyle Heights East of Downtown Los Angeles. She has been a Kindergarten Teacher’s Assistant at Hollywood Schoolhouse since 2006. She appreciates the balance of traditional and progressive teaching methodologies at HSH. Prior to working at Hollywood Schoolhouse, she worked for LAUSD with Upper Elementary students. She has a BA in Liberal Studies and a minor in Child Development from California State University, Dominguez Hills.

Karla can speak and write Spanish fluently. Fashion, makeup, hiking, social justice, reading books about world history, self-help, autobiographies, and human anatomy are her interests. She loves experiencing new cultures through traveling. As for hobbies, she enjoys experimenting with arts, crafts, and coloring. Spending time with her family, especially with her niece gives her great joy. She is a great listener and is always up for a good laugh.
